NEW: Die Maler Robert als Vorläufer heutiger Ökotheologie (The Painters Robert as Forerunners of Today’s Eco-theology) by Otto Schäfer, commissioner for ethics, Swiss Protestant Church Association (Evangelischer Kirchenbund).
Is Christianity to blame for the ecological crisis? This accusation is too generalised, because there are impressive examples of Christian belief in, and responsibility towards, Creation. To these examples belong the painters Robert. They transposed the Bible into nature, and nature into the Bible in a theologically thought-out form. Their original and topical message is aptly highlighted in this richly illustrated brochure.
German and French editions; 28 pages, 15 coloured and 3 black-and-white illustrations, Biel 2008. (ISBN 978-2-8399-0441-4)
Price CHF 10.00.

For sale by a private owner:
Philippe Robert, Feuilles d’automne, published by the artist in 1909, format 37 x 50 cm, 45 pages, 18 plates, hardbound in linen.
This is one of the 20th century’s most magnificent examples of the art of book production. At the heart of the book are 18 water-colours, which colourfully celebrate the beauty of autumn leaves. The plates also reveal how the symmetrical basic forms of the leaves can be turned into ornamentation for artistic crafts. The plates were produced by the most demanding printing process of their era, hence their colours remain fresh and unsurpassed to this day.
